Dog Pictures: Alaskan Malamute or Siberian Husky? Happy Puppy Dog Riding In A Jeep

Dog Pictures: Alaskan Malamute or Siberian Husky? Happy Puppy Dog Riding In A Jeep
Walking down the street on a fine and sunny day, when I see this beautiful face sticking out the window. He was having a fine time riding with his humans, check out the people on the sidewalk and so on. What a beautiful puppy dog! I'm guessing Alaskan Malamute but he might also be a Siberian Husky. I just can't be sure. But then, maybe it's an Alaskan sled dog, or a Greenland dog, a Canadian Eskimo Dog, or even a Samoyed What do you think?

If you'd like, you can click these links to check out the Wikipedia entries for Alaskan Malamute and Siberian Husky. In addition, here are the AKC links for Alaskan Malamute and Siberian Husky breeds. What's your favorite breed?

Dog Pictures: Siberian Husky Or Alaskan Malamute? Big Dog Breed Either Way!
Here we go again with me taking pictures and not getting the 'specs' on the animal. This is a big dog, and a beautiful dog. Not really a puppy dog at all. I have, however, done my research, and I believe this is a picture of an Alaskan Malamute. At first I thought it was a picture of a Siberian Husky, but then I read more about them both.

The Siberian Husky is actually somewhat smaller than an Alaskan Malamute dog. According to the American Kennel Club, the Malamute goes to 75 pounds for females and 85 pounds for males. Of course, there are plenty of Alaskan Malamutes out there weighing more than that. Siberian Huskies go more along the range of 50 and 60 pounds, female and male respectively.

This dog looks like it weighs closer to 75 pounds than 50 or 60. But hey, I'm no carnival weight guessing pro! This is a working dog breed, that's for sure. You may have guessed this already... the Alaskan Malamute was bred to be an Alaskan sled dog. That's right, this dog was originally bred for pulling sleds in Alaska! Well, this particular Alaskan Malamute is living a LONG way from that job, in Dunedin, Florida!

If you'd like to read more about the Alaskan Malamute, check out the AKC link above, or read the entry on Wikipedia. Oh, and check out the pretty pair of Collies in the background. Very pretty.
